FMW Fall Schedule for First Day School
First Day School Parents,
The First Day School year will begin on Sept. 12, and we want to share plans and ideas. A core of committed volunteers is emerging to lead the First Day School groups, and there will be other opportunities for all of us to help out.
Here is a preview of plans for First Day School this year:
Quakes (Pk-1st grade): Fundamentals of Quakerism, peacemaking and community building. We will use the Faith and Play curriculum (Godly Play for Quakers) and the Doctor Seuss for First Day School curriculum. Quakes will also do service projects.
Junior Friends (grades 2-3):
a. Fundamentals of Quakerism, peacemaking and community building. We will use the Faith and Play curriculum (Godly Play for Quakers). Service projects will include support for Haiti, Church of the Pilgrims food making and other projects of their choosing.
b. Religious fundamentals of the high Christian and Jewish holy days, including Christmas, Easter and Passover.
Junior Young Friends (grades 4-8):
a. Fundamentals of Quakerism, peacemaking and community building. We will use the Faith and Play curriculum (Godly Play for Quakers). Service projects will include support for Haiti, Church of the Pilgrims food making and other projects of their choosing.
b. Comparison of Quakerism with at least three other major world religions: Catholicism, Judaism and Islam.
Much appreciation goes to those who have volunteered to help lead. I'll send out a schedule on Thursday so that we can be specific about days.
