When the star in the sky is gone, when the Kings and Princes are home, when the shepherds are back with their flocks, the real work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, to heal the broken, to feed the hungry, to release the prisoners, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among brothers, to make music in the heart. – Traditional Quaker Christmas Benediction

Today, the Trustees and the Peace & Social Concerns Committee will meet in the early morning. Then at noon, we will hold Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business.

There will be a gathering here at FMW on Xmas Eve, starting at 6:00 pm. Please bring something delicious for the potluck—enough for 10. There will be carol-singing, good food, great company, and a candlelight Meeting for Worship. We especially need a piano player to inaugurate our new electric keyboard. On Xmas Day, there will be a Meeting for Worship at noon in the Parlor. For more information, contact the office at admin@quakersdc.org

The FMW office will be closed on Dec. 25 & Dec. 26. Your Administrative Secretary is heading off to visit her grandchildren, but the very able Patty Murphy will take her place on Dec. 29-31. Please be gentle.

The Young Adult Friends will hold a Game Night here on Saturday, Dec. 27, starting at 8:00. All adults who self-identify as young are invited. For more info, contact Michael Huffington at mk.huff10@gmail.com

On Sunday, Dec. 28, there will be meetings of the Hospitality, Hunger & Homelessness Taskforce, Library, and Records & Handbook committees, as well as the Fibre Party at noon.

On Thursday, January 1, begin the new year by learning Spiritual Accountability. Ministry & Worship is holding an all-day workshop on this topic—a kind of “clearness committee on steroids” in which we mutually listen to, nurture, support and hold one another accountable spiritually. Curious? Come try it out and see if it’s for you. The workshop is from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a potluck break midday. For more information, contact Debby at admin@quakersdc.org

The Baltimore Yearly Meeting Women’s Retreat is coming up on January 23-25. Come for singing, sharing, worship, workshops, and more. Go to www.bymwomensretreat.org to register or learn more, or contact Lelac at lalmagor@gmail.com or 202-596-7323.
