How do we fully enjoy and appropriate this rich heritage without getting sucked into the cult of quakerishness? For the most part, we no longer live in the cohesive communities that supported the piety and lifestyles of those earlier Friends, and I worry that pride in their accomplishments might be an artificial substitute for finding equivalent ways to support each other in discipleship today. How do we harvest the lessons without idolizing the teachers? – Johan Maurer

For many years, Quakers have held a silent vigil at the U.S. Capitol steps (West Lawn), holding a banner which which quotes Psalms: Seek Peace & Pursue It. We would like to continue this effort on the second Saturday of each month from noon to 1:00. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Pam Callard at 202.829.9577
