FMW helped launch a dynamic new faith and climate alliance working to accelerate DC and Maryland’s transition off so-called “natural” gas (methane) used for heating and cooking in over half our buildings. Methane leaked is a powerful climate-disrupting greenhouse gas.  Gas burned emits pollutants that contribute to asthma and other serious health conditions.  This summer, we won important legislation in DC to curb installation of gas appliances in new construction.  But there is still a long way to go.  Peace and Social Concerns is thrilled to sponsor this report-back and campaign-building session with activist leaders with  Washington Interfaith Network, Interfaith Power and Light and DC Sierra Club on recent progress, organizing next steps and our new citizen science research on gas stove emissions (which you can join!)
