Staying True to Your Roots as Peacemakers--

An Interactive Workshop Series on Growing up in a Troubled World.
 
Special program for Young Friends, ages 4-10, sponsored by
Quaker Friends Meeting of Washington's First Day School. 
 
Parents are also welcome to participate in this workshop where kids will explore ideas of peacebuilding and how they related to peace and justice in their personal lives and in the larger world.

Dates: "Junior Friends" (ages 8-10) Sundays Feb 21, 28 and March 7 and "Quakes" (ages 4-7) Sundays Feb 28 and March 7. Note: We also provide childcare for younger siblings.
 
Time: 
10:20 Refreshments and introductions;
10:30-11:30 Workshop;
11:30 - 12:30 All children are welcome to play in our outdoor play area and parents are welcome to join adults for coffee and snacks which typically follow our regular Sunday Meeting for worship. 
 
Junior Friends Program will be led by Tarek Maassarani, an American Friends Service Committee-certified Help Increase the Peace Program (HIPP) facilitator, a community mediator / dialogue circle facilitator for the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County, and an Adjunct Professor of Peacebuilding at the George Washington University Elliott School for International Affairs.  He is also co-founder and consultant for DCPEACE, a comprehensive peace education pilot program in southeast DC.
 
Quakes Program will be led by Dawn Martin and Danny Hollinger who will "Quake the Quakes" with Quaker values related to peace and conflict resolution by playing "Win as Much as You Can" and engaging in other activities, including deep philosophical discussions about peace and related topics of interest.
