Opportunity to Support Young Undocumented Immigrants
Movimiento Cosecha Youth coming to DC to protest for their rights
Seeking Housing April 29, 20, May 1

Cosecha, led by undocumented immigrants, is planning a large May Day protest in D.C. to press for permanent protections for all 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Their message is urgent.  But given the continued risk of COVID-19, their DC lodgings must not be in large group settings (like FMW’s Meeting House). Cosecha is seeking hosts who can put up out-of-town protesters (all recently tested for COVID) on April 29, 30 and May 1.  If you might be able to host, please fill out this Form.  Peace & Social Concerns supports this effort, referred by FMW member Katie Breslin.  For more information, contact:   Natalie Thielen Helper, email:  nataliethielenhelper@gmail.com

ACTION OPPORTUNITY (through mid-April)
Support voter registration in Virginia

Reclaim Our Vote DC-MD-VA needs our help sending at least 300,000 postcards to Virginia residents who are unregistered or who have been removed from voter registration lists.  This year’s gubernatorial election is contentious, and critical areas of policy hang in the balance.  Virginia’s low income residents and communities of color--traditionally underrepresented--deserve an equal voice.  FMW’s Peace & Social Concerns Committee is organizing postcards, addresses, postage in sets of 30 (1-2 hours work).  If you would like to help, sign up here or contact PSC clerk, BarbaraHBriggs@gmail.com or (412) 417-9384.

Funding Opportunity:
FMW Social Justice Fund’s Spring Application Deadline is April 24

FMW’s Committee on Peace & Social Concerns invites members of the FMW community to apply for Peace and Social Justice Fund Grants to assist, expand or strengthen the social justice work in which they are involved.   Learn more and apply here. For more information, contact P&SC clerk Barbara Briggs, BarbaraHBriggs@gmail.com, or any member of the Committee.
